Somewhere Ted Danson Is Crying

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

So I just sent an email to my friend Jen discussing the fact that Steve Guttenberg is going to be on the next season of Dancing With the Stars. "What's next?" I said in my email, "Johnny Five? The robot from Short Circuit? He would, of course, dance to the song, "More Than a Woman" by the BeeGees."

The whole Steve Guttenberg thing got me thinking about Three Men and a Baby and about how there was supposed to be a ghost on the set of that movie. But mostly it reminded me of when I was seven years old and I went to Disney World. The hotel we stayed at reeked something funky and I, with my blossoming vocabulary pronounced, "What's that stench?" which made my mom laugh and think I was quite witty and smart. Truth told? It was a line from Three Men and a Baby when Tom Selleck's character (Peter Mitchell, the suave architect) smells the baby's poopy diaper. Man, I remember thinking that was hilarious when I was a kid.
